3 things I check before calling a product a 'winner'
Most dropshippers pick products based on vibes. They see something trending on TikTok and throw it on their store without doing any real diligence. Then they wonder why their ROAS is garbage.
Here's what I actually look at before I'll call something a winner:
1. Solve a problem or trigger impulse — not both
Products that try to do both usually fail at both. The best sellers either fix a clear pain point (posture correctors, phone mounts) or trigger pure impulse (LED gadgets, fidget tools). Know which lane you're in before you build the ad.
2. Supplier margin after shipping
Most people calculate margin before shipping costs. That's a mistake. I factor in ePacket or warehouse fulfillment costs upfront. If the margin isn't at least 2.5x after shipping, I pass — no matter how cool the product looks.
3. Competition saturation check
I run every product through an ad library search. If there are 50+ active advertisers running the same product with similar creatives, the window has closed. I'm looking for products with momentum but not yet saturated — usually under 15 active advertisers.
This is the kind of analysis I do for every single product I drop inside WinnerDrops. If you want the research done for you, check out what we're building.
