I’m Dan, the founder of Yete NYC. We’re a growing Yerba Mate community based here in New York City (but not limited to it). I’m working toward building a real third-space for Mate, centered around human connection and shared experience.
I first got into mate in 2020 when I was a Guayakí ambassador in college. At first I was drinking the cans, but everything changed when I discovered the traditional way, from a gourd. That is when it really clicked for me.
In November 2025, I traveled to Argentina to learn more about yerba mate at its source. I met with farmers and spoke to people who have been in the industry for generations, which gave me a much deeper appreciation for the craft and culture behind it.
Now I host events around the city, from tastings and corporate gatherings to casual park meetups where we share Mate with friends and strangers. Whether you are brand new or have been drinking mate for years, you are welcome here 😁
What I love most about yerba mate is how it slows things down and brings people together. The way it makes you feel is a nice bonus too.
