Why most yoga studios lose 70% of trial leads (and the 3-message fix)
Ran the numbers across a handful of independent studios recently and the pattern was almost identical every time: the average studio follows up with a trial-class lead once, and only if the person doesn't book a second class within a week.
That's the leak. Here's what actually works instead:
1. The same-day check-in. Message them the day of their first class, not three days later. Ask how they felt physically — not "did you like it," but something specific like "how are you feeling, sore in the good way?" Specific questions get replies. Generic ones get ignored.
2. The social-proof nudge (day 3). If there's no reply or they said "still thinking about it," don't ask again about membership. Mention that other people from their class asked about pricing. This removes the pressure of being singled out.
3. The graceful close (day 10). Most studios either go silent or keep pushing. Neither works. A clear, no-pressure final message — "I'll stop following up here, but the door's open" — gets people to come back weeks or months later far more often than repeated asks ever do.
The studios that implement even just this 3-message sequence typically see meaningfully more trial-to-member conversions without spending anything extra on ads. It's not about better marketing — it's about not abandoning the leads you already have.
Happy to share more of the exact scripts if useful — just ask.
