3 things I wish I knew before my first trade
I blew my first account in 2 weeks. Here's what would've saved me:
1. You don't need to trade every day.
Most beginners think more trades = more money. Wrong. The best traders are patient. They wait for A+ setups and skip everything else. I used to take 10+ trades a day and wonder why I was bleeding money.
2. Risk management is the entire game.
Your strategy doesn't matter if you're risking 20% per trade. I use a strict 1-2% risk rule now. Even when I'm wrong 4 times in a row, I'm still in the game. Most new traders blow up because they never learned this.
3. Paper trading isn't optional.
I know it's boring. I know you want to make real money. But would you fly a plane without a simulator first? Paper trade until you're profitable for at least 2-3 months. Your real money will thank you.
If you're just starting out and want a structured path from zero to profitable, that's exactly what I built ZeroToHero Trading for. But even if you never join — take these 3 rules seriously. They'll save you thousands.
