5 things killing your local business website (and how to fix them)
I've built sites for dozens of restaurants, salons, and clinics. The same mistakes show up every time:
1. No clear call-to-action above the fold. Visitors land on your site and don't know what to do. Fix: one big button — "Book Now", "Call Us", "View Menu" — right at the top.
2. Your site isn't mobile-first. 70%+ of your traffic is on phones. If your site looks weird on mobile, you're losing customers before they even scroll.
3. Slow load times. If it takes more than 3 seconds to load, nearly half of visitors bounce. Compress your images, ditch the heavy sliders.
4. No social proof. People trust other people. Add Google reviews, client photos, or testimonials front and center.
5. Outdated info. Wrong hours, old menus, dead links — nothing kills trust faster. Audit your site monthly.
If your website has even 2 of these issues, it's costing you real money. The good news: all of them are fixable in a weekend.
I help local businesses get this right. If you want a site that actually brings in customers, check out what we're building here at Zoya Design Co.
