Why most home workout habits fail (and how live classes fix it)
I've taught Zumba for years, and the #1 reason people quit home workouts isn't motivation — it's the absence of a clock ticking and a room full of people who'll notice if you're not there.
A few things I've learned building a live virtual Zumba class:
1. Pre-recorded video is convenient, but convenience kills consistency. If you can pause it, you will pause it. A live class starting at 6pm sharp creates a commitment device your brain respects.
2. Community accountability beats willpower every time. The moment other real people are dancing next to you (even on a screen), skipping feels like letting someone down, not just yourself.
3. Beginners don't need choreography — they need permission to look silly. The biggest churn driver in fitness isn't difficulty, it's self-consciousness. A room that expects imperfect movement removes that barrier entirely.
If you've been circling the idea of getting back into a movement habit, live-only formats are worth trying before another on-demand library you'll forget about in a week.
