Here's a simple way I've been thinking about task initiation:

Instead of asking:

"How am I going to finish this?"

Ask:

"What is the smallest physical action I can take to begin?"

For example:

WRITE THE REPORT

becomes:

OPEN THE DOCUMENT.

Then attach that action to a real trigger:

WHEN I SIT DOWN AT MY DESK

โ†’ OPEN THE DOCUMENT

โ†’ GIVE MYSELF 2 MINUTES.

That's the basic idea behind the 2-Minute Physical Start in The First 5 Minutes.

The guide turns this into a reusable process, including a Start Card and troubleshooting for when you're stuck on the WHAT, WHEN, or FEELING.

Have you ever had a task that you completely understood...

You knew what needed to be done.

You knew how to do it.

You even had enough time to do it

Sometimes you need to make the first physical action small enough to actually begin.

I put the full method into the guide here:

If you've experienced this, what's the kind of task you find yourself putting off most?
