Whop has paid out hundreds of millions of dollars to creators - but as a creator, how do you get paid?
Getting paid by Whop is easy, but there are a few things to keep in mind, including milestone payments, account reserves, customer disputes, and account suspensions.
Read on to find out everything you need to know about getting paid by Whop.
Whop creator payments: Frequently asked questions
Let's start with the basics - getting paid.
Getting paid by Whop

When and how do I get paid?
After you set up your storepage or checkout link, Whop begins tracking your account to make sure everything complies with our Terms of Service. After that initial check (and any future routine checks), your payouts can be sent to your connected bank account.
Our goal is to pay creators as quickly as possible, while ensuring everything is safe and secure.
Why do some payouts require extra review?
Certain milestones trigger a review of your account (for example, your first-ever sale, first-ever withdrawal, and at higher revenue levels like $1k, $5k, $25k, $50k.). We look at factors such as:
- Compliance with Whop’s Terms of Service.
- Risk Score (ex; dispute rate and fraud risk).
- Transaction Patterns (ex; very large or unusual transactions).
If everything looks good, we’ll enable withdrawals. If we spot an issue, we may place a reserve on your account or (in serious cases) temporarily suspend payouts until we resolve those concerns.
Are there fees for using Whop?
Whop charges a platform fee on most transactions, plus any standard payment processing fees. Whop may also charge a service fee at checkout depending on how your account is set up.
Account reserves and reviews

In some cases we may hold payments for a short period of time - here's why.
What is a “reserve,” and why is it placed on my account?
A reserve is when we hold back a percentage of each sale for a set period (up to 100%). This helps protect customers and Whop from potential losses (such as chargebacks or disputes). We generally place reserves if:
- Your dispute or chargeback rate is above a certain threshold.
- You are brand new and we see unusual or high-risk patterns (ex; sudden large transaction spikes).
- There have been violations of Whop’s Terms of Service.
- Your product offering is unclear and we require more information about your product or service.
If a reserve is placed, you’ll be notified via email or direct message on your Whop dashboard. Once your account demonstrates consistent, low-risk behavior, we’ll remove or reduce the reserve.
Disputes & Resolution Center

All businesses come across unhappy customers. Here's how disputes can affect your payments.
How are disputes handled on Whop?
Whop provides a Resolution Center where customers can request refunds or dispute a purchase without going to their bank. As the creator, you’ll get a chance to respond and provide any evidence (for instance, proof of delivery or communication). A Whop specialist then makes a fair decision based on:
- Evidence from you and the customer.
- Your posted refund policy (if you have one).
- The timing of the refund request
What are the possible outcomes of a dispute?
The dispute can be resolved in several ways:
- Platform refund (Whop pays): In rare cases, Whop may cover the refund as a courtesy.
- Creator refund (you pay): We may require the creator to issue the refund if the claim is valid and falls under your policy or Whop’s guidelines.
- User loses (no refund): If the request seems invalid or goes against posted policies, the dispute is denied.
What if a customer files a chargeback with their bank?
If a bank dispute is filed, it typically overrides the Resolution Center. In these cases, the funds are pulled back through the card processor. We strongly encourage customers to use the Resolution Center first to avoid the hassle (and extra fees) that come with chargebacks.
Can I set my own refund policy?
Yes. You can outline your return/refund policy in your product listing. However, Whop will still evaluate refunds in the Resolution Center if a customer files a dispute. To avoid misunderstandings, clearly state what situations qualify for a refund (and if you have certain timelines).
Negative balances
Is your Whop balance in the negative? Here's why that can happen.
What happens if my account goes into a negative balance?
A negative balance can happen if more refunds or chargebacks occur than the funds you currently have available. Here’s what you need to know:
- Small negative balances (<$500): We’ll alert you and try to recover funds if the negative balance remains for more than several days.
- Large negative balances (>$500): If it stays negative for more than 72 hours, we’ll attempt to pull funds from your connected bank.
- Suspension: If we can’t recover the negative amount, your account may be suspended.
Keeping a healthy balance ensures smooth payouts and prevents interruptions to your account.
Suspension of funds

In extreme circumstances, Whop may suspend your funds.
What actions can lead to the suspension of my account or funds?
Whop may temporarily or permanently suspend your payouts for the following reasons:
- High dispute/chargeback rate: If a significant percentage of your recent transactions are being disputed.
- Violations of Whop’s Terms of Service: This includes selling products or services not allowed on Whop (ex; illegal, high-risk, or extremely offensive content), copyright infringement, or other policy breaches.
- Excessive risk score: If our system flags your account as high risk based on transaction patterns or incomplete information about your business.
- Significant negative balance: If your account remains in the red, and we can’t recover the owed amount from your bank.
When in doubt, our team will reach out to verify details or request more information before deciding on suspension.
How do I keep my account in good standing?
Some best practices include:
- Make sure your product or service description matches what you actually deliver.
- Respond quickly to customer questions or concerns.
- Keep your dispute rate low by proactively resolving issues or refunding unhappy customers (if appropriate).
- Stay within Whop’s Terms of Service for all content and offerings.
- Monitor your account for negative balances.
