Sometimes, all you need is a small private trading community to get your market news, analysis, and trade alerts. That’s exactly what Day Trading University promises. This is actually one of the top forex trading Discord servers on Whop, so I was very keen to check it out.

Day Trading University is a project by well-known forex trader Josh Pavao. He decided to create this trading group on Discord to educate all members and help them become successful in the long term. He provides a ton of guidance to each member and also hosts daily trading livestreams where you can see him work in real time.

Who’s behind Day Trading University?

Josh Pavao has been trading forex professionally for several years. After figuring out a strategy and process that was successful for him, he set out to teach others his tricks and insights. He’s mostly been active on social media, where he has helped more than 20K traders.

In 2023, he decided to migrate to Discord and create Day Trading University, to better monetize his services. He wanted DTU to be an exclusive community with few members so he could manage the entire group on his own. He actually used to have a partner in the community, but he decided to let him go since his quality of services wasn’t up to par.

So far, DTU has been very successful and has gathered a few hundred aspiring traders looking to learn from Josh. And it’s clear that Josh works very well on his own and he’s able to offer excellent services, judging by the dozens of five-star reviews on the group’s whop.

Joining the Discord server

When I was done setting up my DTU membership, I immediately hopped into the group’s Discord server. I must admit Day Trading University has one of the most neatly organized server structures I’ve come across.

This is a no-frills group with a few purposeful channels and nothing more. It honestly felt a bit empty when I first looked at it, but as I familiarized myself with each section, I saw that it had a lot to offer.

The first section you’ll find is the “Start Here” section, which includes a very handy video of Josh breaking down every Discord channel. You can also find all the resources the community offers in the “Directory” channel. There’s also an “FAQ” channel, where Josh has created some handy videos answering popular member questions.

Once you’re done with the onboarding process, you can introduce yourself in the “Academy Members” section. That’s also where you’ll find a channel for important announcements, as well as the group’s single chatting channel where you can hang out with other members.

Daily trading sessions

Day Trading University is mostly known for its live trading sessions with Josh. You can find a detailed schedule for these under the “Live Analysis” section, along with links to the webinars whenever Josh goes live.

Josh is primarily a forex trader, but you might also catch him entering trades for commodities, like oil and gold, as well as certain equities. He trades live during the London and New York sessions at specific times throughout the day.

He’ll also participate in trades during the Asian session, but you’ll only find recordings of these sessions on Discord. During the weekend, he’ll organize webinars for the “Core Four” principles of his trading strategy (more on them later) and create a short video with preparations for the upcoming week.

In the Live Analysis section, you’ll also find videos with market updates from each session, and specific analyses Josh shares when he’s not livestreaming. And if you want, you can check out entire NY or London live sessions on the “Live Recordings” channel.

Essential information and resources

Apart from being an excellent active trader, Josh is an educator and has created an in-depth library of resources you can find on the Day Trading University website. Keep in mind that you’ll need to create a separate account to access the Resources Library.

The first thing every new member should check out is the DTU Curriculum, which includes basic information on trading strategies and routines. Then you can take a look at the “Trade Talk Live Calls”, which are basically Q&A sections for members to ask Josh important trading questions.

Next up is the “Core Four Recordings”, which are a bunch of videos dedicated to four essential aspects of trading that Josh believes everyone should balance properly. These are the Markets, the Mindset, the Movement (basically being fit and healthy), and the Mastermind (your relationships with other people).

Josh has been hosting weekly seminars on different topics under these core principles for several years, and you can get recordings of them on the website. Finally, you can find many resources, including the brokers Josh prefers, some charts and cheat sheets, and risk management tools.

But I think the amount of content you receive, coupled with Josh’s expertise and professionalism, more than make up for it. Overall, I’d say Day Trading University is definitely worth a shot, but only if you’re the right type of trader. Obviously, the membership cost is very high compared to that of similar communities. In fact, it’s one of the things that caught my attention when I first looked at the group – and not in a good way. I thought there was no chance the content would justify the cost.

However, once I got to spend some time with Josh and the other members, I understood that the cost was partially what maintained the group’s exclusive nature. Not everyone is willing to spend that much money on a monthly membership, which aligns with what Josh is looking for – serious traders who are ready to take the next step and learn from a true expert.
