Degen Tavern Sports is a very unique sports betting Discord server. I randomly came across the group while browsing the Whop Marketplace and saw they were part of a much bigger brand, which explains their sudden spike in popularity.
Naturally, I was super intrigued to see what it had to offer.
The server is a sub-brand of Freezer Tarps, a community established by Cheddy. He’s teamed up with veteran handicappers to create a place for well-researched and high-value bets on all major leagues and other sports. Degen Tavern Sports was founded in 2024 by “Cheddy” (aka Max VanderAarde). The sports group is essentially another sub-brand under the Freezer Tarps umbrella.
Cheddy became known for his unique slang and new words he popularized, with the community reaching millions of views in just a few years. Cheddy then began to branch out and create several sub-brands, like “Upperdeckys”, a caffeinated alternative to nicotine pouches.
In 2024, Cheddy took a shot at sports betting and employed a bunch of expert cappers to create Degen Tavern Sports. In just a few months, the team’s done extremely well with thousands of members on their Discord and dozens of five-star reviews on Whop.
They’ve even acquired the Whop Verified badge, which is impressive in such a short time period.
Entering the Tavern
When I finished claiming my Degen Tavern Sports membership, I immediately jumped into the group’s Discord. I found a very well-structured and organized community, with the most important sections near the top for easier access.
It wasn’t too much of a surprise to me, and, in general, the server was very pleasant to navigate, which is always a plus in my book.
The first section I noticed was the “Info” section, which included a separate channel for server announcements, and a separate channel for showcasing the group’s partnership with PrizePicks.
There’s also a channel to post your winning slips and a channel for the group’s giveaways.
Next up was the “Tavern Free” section, which includes several channels for free members. There’s a dedicated chat room, a channel for newsletters, and a “Results” channel, where the team presents their wins and losses at the end of each month.

Getting into the main part of Degen Tavern Sports, you have the sections where the Tavern Team post their daily plays. First off there are the “Tavern Officials”. This is where you’ll find Cheddy’s personal channel, where he puts out his own plays.
He provides a great mix of player prop bets on PrizePicks and straight bets on traditional sports betting apps. You’ll find him betting on a variety of sports, including all the major leagues, and even some soccer and tennis, depending on the schedule and confidence levels.
There is also the “Tavern Sharps” section, which is saved for the Tavern Team of expert cappers. Each Sharp has its own channel and specializes in different sports, like the NBA, NFL, NHL, college sports, MMA, and even golf.
There are actually 10+ active Sharps at the moment, with the team increasing every day. Thankfully, their channels are clearly labeled so you can better understand which one focuses on what sport.

Degen Tavern Sports is definitely an interesting project with huge potential to grow since Cheddy has put together an elite team of Sharps. However, there are definitely some details that need ironing out and probably a bit more content to justify the expensive monthly membership cost.
Still, Cheddy and his team of cappers are doing a great job finding high-value plays and ensuring every member gets the help they need to start tailing them.
I really enjoyed how concise and easy to navigate the Discord server was, especially for a brand-new group.
