From vintage clothing to streetwear, electronics, and everything in between, reselling is a huge market. Yet in this vast landscape, there is one niche that stands out among the rest - and that is sneaker reselling.

Reselling sneakers has been around since the first hyped Jordans released, and up until the early 2000s, it was primarily primarily in person. During this time, the big brands started to adopt ecommerce to drop coveted sneakers, and eBay began to gain popularity, especially amongst those trading shoes.

Since then, numerous platforms have emerged for both buying and selling shoes, in addition to a plethora of websites that are stocking and releasing hot kicks. All of these factors made for a strong sneaker reselling market that continues to have demand today, despite ups and downs.

However, finding victory in this game requires specialized knowledge. The biggest edge you can have for shoe reselling success is knowing exactly which shoes to target, so to keep you in the know, we’ve compiled a list of the best sneaker drops with resell potential in the spring of 2024 - let's get into it!

The waffle patterns can be seen on the heel as well, where the toasty tone also continues in the background of the classic all-caps Nike branding.

The Air Jordan 5 Retro model has been having a comeback in recent years, as have fresh versions of previously released colorways on Retro models.

The “Olive” colorway was first seen on the Jordan 5 Retro in 2006, and it’s now making a return nearly 2 decades later.

The forest army green backdrop throughout the shoe is slightly accented with orange on the front of the outer sole and throughout the entire inside of the shoe.

A 3M tongue, which is seen on some of the most desirable Retro 5 models such as the “Satin Bred”, makes for a hype-worthy finish that will have sneakerheads reeling for this pair.

The Olive colored Air Jordan can be purchased through Nike’s SNKRS app in addition to select authorized retailers.

Women’s Air Jordans have become a hot commodity and are a sneakerhead and reseller favorite, and with the Air Jordan 4 Retro “Metallic Gold”, this holds especially true.

A squeaky clean all-white upper and sole of the shoe is neatly contrasted with gold eyelets that define this colorway and make it as desirable as it is.

The pair can be purchased at select Nike retailers and the SNKRS app.

While he is most commonly associated with the LA Lakers, the late Kobe Bryant is a Philadelphia native, which the Zoom Kobe 4 Protro “Philly” recognizes.

This colorway of the Zoom Kobe 4 Protro sports an all-American palette of mostly blue with red and white accents throughout and defining 3M stars around the shoe’s upper.

We first saw this colorway in 2009, and the 2024 version is essentially a 1 to 1 re-release of the original.

You can buy the  Zoom Kobe 4 Protro “Philly” on the SNKRS app, and stock will be limited to only a few select other retailers.

Nike Dunk Low Premium SB “Pastoral Print”

Release Date: Monday, April 22, 2024🗓️
Retail Price: $110💵

Perhaps the most Spring-themed of this list is the brand-new “Pastoral Print” colorway of the Nike Dunk Low Premium SB.

A lavender-colored upper pops with pastoral images of trees, clouds, and birds, while urban elements of graffiti and trains add a nice contrast and edge.

Brown outlines and white accents make for a more unisex palette which nicely completes this debut colorway and broadens its appeal.

You can grab a pair of the Nike Dunk Low Premium SB “Pastoral Print” using Nike’s SNKRS app or by trying your luck at an authorized retailer that carries a pair.

Due to the lower retail price it’s likely that sneaker resellers will be able to charge a profitable premium if the shoe’s stock remains as limited as it is predicted to be.

Air Jordan 4 Retro “Military Blue”

Release Date: Saturday, April 27, 2024🗓️
Retail Price:$215💵

Air Jordan 4

Original, or OG colorways of Retro Jordans are those that were released during the first production of a new Jordan iteration, such as the Air Jordan 4. These OG colorways are among the most desirable for both resellers and sneakerheads and tend to hold an above-retail aftermarket value.

Military Blue is one such colorway and was first seen on the Air Jordan 4 in 1989.

Most recently, we saw the “Military Blue” Air Jordan 4 Retro in 2012, so it’s still been long enough for there now to be hype and demand that may cause these to sell out quickly and have a resale premium.

You can buy a pair of these at select Nike retailers and the SNKRS app.

Nike Kobe 8 Protro “Mambacita”

Release Date: Wednesday, May 1, 2024🗓️
Retail Price: $190 for men, $120 for grade school, and $90 for preschool💵

2024 marks the fourth year since the sudden and tragic passing of Kobe and his daughter Gigi.

The Nike Kobe 8 Protro “Mambacita” is a tribute to her, with her name inscribed on the left heel. Black butterflies decorate a simple black and white upper with a gold swoosh adding a respectfully regal touch to this colorway.

This colorway is named after, and supporting of, the Mamba & Mambacita Sports Foundation, a Kobe Bryant-founded non-profit that aims to create a positive impact for underserved boys and girl athletes in their respective sports.

You can buy these on the SNKRS app and at Nike retailers that stock them.

Retail Price: $190 for men and $150 for women, with youth, preschool, and toddler sizes also available💵

One of the most iconic and recognizable Jordans of all time is the Air Jordan 11 “Space Jam”, which was originally released as a colorway for the classic high top Retro 11.

The newer low version of the Retro 11 has its fan base despite not being a true OG, and this is especially true with the Air Jordan 11 Low Space Jam.

Back by popular demand, we have seen this pair in the past originally in 2009 and again in 206.

This pair will be available for the whole family on Nike’s SNKRS app and select Nike Retailers.

Travis Scott x Wmns Air Jordan 1 Retro Low OG SP “Canary”

Release Date: Friday, May 17, 2024🗓️
Retail Price: $150, with preschool and toddler sizes at $60 and $50 respectively💵

nike canary
Img credit: @sneakerlockerzllc

One of the most successful newer celebrity collaborations with the Jordan brand was made by Travis Scott, which in 2019 claimed the signature backward swoosh and commands some of the highest resale prices amongst coveted Nike models.

A bright and brand new “Canary” colorway of the Travis Scott Air Jordan 1 Retro Low is debuting in May 2024, and this one is a ladies exclusive, with no men’s sizing available.

However, don’t count the men out when it comes to rocking this pair of bold yellow, light silver, and blue Travis Scotts–expect larger sizes to sell out the most quickly with the highest resale values.

💵The lower women’s retail price means that it's almost certain that these shoes will appear well above retail price on the aftermarket.

Air Jordan 12 Retro “Red Taxi”

Release Date: Saturday, May 18, 2024🗓️
Retail Price: $200💵

Img credit: @xcsnkr

While some of the new colorways on 2024 Nikes are brand-new originals, others are strongly inspired by OG colorways. The “Red Taxi” Air Jordan 12 Retro is one such pair.

Keeping the same white and black tumbled leather upper, the “Red” version of the OG Taxi differentiates by adding subtle red accents including a red Jumpman, and substituting silver eyelets for gold ones, giving this pair a never-before-seen color combo.

💵You can buy these in men’s sizes at select Nike retailers and the SNKRS app, and this colorway is also coming out in gradeschool, preschool, and toddler sizes.

Air Jordan 1 High OG WMNS “Latte”

Release Date: Wednesday, May 29, 2024🗓️
Retail Price: $180💵

Travis Scott may have initially claimed and set the popularity for the brown and white with black swoosh combo on the Air Jordan 1, but the “Mocha” Air Jordan 1 solidified it when it came out one year later in 2020 with strong demand and sky-high resale value.

Since then, brown and white Jordan 1’s have become a recognizable hot commodity, and this Women’s exclusive of the “Latte” Air Jordan 1 High OG is no exception.

This “Latte” is the spitting image of the coveted “Mocha”, with only a subtly lighter shade of brown as the differentiating factor, in addition to Women’s only sizing.

You can get your hands on these using the SNKRS app and the few Nike retailers that have been chosen to stock these.

FAQ

How do I know which shoe releases will have resale value?

Not every shoe release has resale value, and many beginner shoe resellers make the mistake of buying “bricks”, i.e., shoes that don’t have strong demand, move slowly, and typically sell for below the retail price. In order to avoid bricks, you can learn to identify shoes with resale value, which often fall into the category of past historic OG releases, hyped new collaborations, and low stock, unique new colorways.

Where can I buy and sell shoes?

On the aftermarket, you can buy and sell shoes on various platforms, some of which like StockX and GOAT are dedicated to shoes, while others like eBay and Amazon are general marketplaces that still have a demand for sneakers. In terms of brand-new sneaker releases, be sure to buy only from authorized retailers and reputable sellers so you avoid the increasing quantity of fakes that are circulating the shoe market.

Nike reigns supreme not only in overall sneaker market share, but also as a favorite for shoe resellers. The vast majority of shoes that have resale value are Nike or one of their sub-brands such as SB or Jordan. Adidas comes at a close second, most notably with its Yeezy collaborations. Other shoe brands have sneakers with resale value, such as a few hyped New Balance collaborations, but these releases are not consistent.
